We use a wait pool of students who meet our admissions criteria. A student can be placed in the wait pool after their application has been reviewed by the admissions committee. In times of limited places, siblings of enrolled students who have completed the application process prior to March 15 of the intended year of entry will be given priority. Students will then be admitted in accordance with our Admissions policies.

Our admissions decisions are based on a variety of evaluative procedures including a review of official school transcripts, records, and similar documents. The admissions committee may request that your child complete additional assessments.

Our school day starts at 8:15 am each morning. Students must be in class at this time. Classes end at 3:25 pm every day, except Wednesday, when students are dismissed at 2:25 pm.

Our class sizes vary depending on grade level:

• EY 3: Maximum 12 students per class
• EY 4: Maximum 14 students per class
• Kindergarten-Grade 1: Maximum 18 students per class
• Grades 2-5: Maximum 20 students per class
• Grades 6-12: Maximum 22 students per class

Our school food service provider, Sodexo, offers hot lunches every school day. Lunch is optional and is not included in the tuition fee.

ISB boasts approximately 1,700 students representing more than 50 nationalities including, but not limited to, the U.S.  China-Hong Kong, China-Taiwan, China-Macao; South Korea; Canada; Australia; Singapore, India and many more!

Our counselors work with principals and teachers to create balanced classrooms. In the Elementary School, students are placed into class groups based on their learning personalities, gender, former teacher recommendations, individual strengths, and the diversity of the class. Our counselors and principals make the final decisions regarding classroom assignments in order to create the best learning environment for all our students.

Our Middle School and High School students will have a different teacher assigned for each subject and placement is based on level, schedule, and student makeup of classes.

Our students do not wear school uniforms, but ISB has a dress code that all students are required to observe.

• Chinese language is offered from EY 3 to Grade 12
• French is available for students in Grades 6 to 12
• Spanish is available to students in Grades 6 to 12

ISB coordinates a bus service with an external contractor to enable students to travel to and from school. Annual fees for this service vary depending on the distance students commute. The bus service is an optional, annual fee that is refundable per semester.
