Interdisciplinary
At ISB, we value interdisciplinary learning and believe it allows for the intentional and experiential inquiry into complex and relevant issues. Through this approach, students are empowered to deepen understanding around a central them in a challenging and joyful context with real-world application.
Our courses are integrated around the two core disciplines authentically by using methods like Project Based Learning, inquiry, and design thinking.
ISB’s interdisciplinary courses are aligned to our curriculum; students will all develop common grade-level skills and understandings. For students registered in both grade 9 interdisciplinary courses, concepts could be useful for them to connect the courses. The courses place a priority on development of a social conscience, deep analytical skills and global citizenship. They can also provide foundations for independent or school-initiated service work. The courses include and emphasize opportunities for students to be agents of different aspects of their own learning.
While every grade level designs interdisciplinary projects and opportunities for our students, in high school we offer specific interdisciplinary courses that allow for more time to delve deeper in relevant subject areas and provide authentic hands-on learning opportunities for students.
